Özlem Günyol (Ankara, 1977) and Mustafa Kunt (Ankara, 1978) have thought and produced together since 2005, and after graduating from the Hacettepe University Department of Sculpture in 2001, moved to Germany, and attended the Frankfurt Art Academy, the Städelschule. The duo has realized around 20 solo exhibitions to date, and has taken part in many group exhibitions. They have received many awards and scholarships, and most recently the HAP Grieshaber Preis der VG Bild-Kunst award for 2017.

The backbone of the works of Özlem Günyol and Mustafa Kunt is formed of topics such as the representation of individual and collective belonging, the meaning of language, symbols, information as communication by media, and also, their link to culturally-coded templates of understanding. In their works, Günyol and Kunt seek to structurally transform concepts such as identity, nationalism and borders by using methods such as translation, coding, deconstruction, classification, juxtaposition and superposition.
